Vivid Meadow enters tapped and produces white mana freely, but its real job is providing two charges of any color — a meaningful concession from a land that asks nothing beyond a slot in the 99. The catch is that it enters tapped every time, which makes it a liability in faster metas where missing a turn-one untapped land costs games.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Vivid Meadow is a Commander card through and through — the format's slower pace makes the enters-tapped penalty acceptable, and five-color or four-color decks genuinely need the color flexibility it provides. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; no competitive deck there wants a tapped land with only two off-color charges. Modern has long since moved past it, with fetch-shock and triome mana available at comparable or lower cost. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's dynamic closely enough that the same calculus applies: run it in greedy manabases that need white and occasionally need something else, cut it when your curve is low enough that tapped lands hurt.

Price Context
Current price
$0.35 bulk tier
At $0.35, Vivid Meadow sits squarely in bulk territory and has stayed there through multiple reprints. It's a safe pickup for budget five-color manabases, but don't expect the price to move — supply is deep and demand stays modest.
