Vinebred Brawler card art
Vinebred Brawler enters as a potentially massive trampler the moment your graveyard has depth — no setup turn required beyond filling your bin. The cost is a two-card dependency: without a stocked graveyard, you're paying four mana for a vanilla 3/3.

Format Analysis

oathbreaker

In Commander, Vinebred Brawler earns its slot in dedicated graveyard-filling shells — self-mill, dredge, and reanimator builds that treat the graveyard as a resource rather than a tragedy. Outside those archetypes, four mana for a creature with no ETB and no protection is too fragile for a 100-card singleton format where removal is everywhere. In Modern and Pioneer, the competition at four mana is brutal — Vinebred Brawler lacks haste, evasion beyond trample, and any immediate impact beyond a large body, so it won't displace established threats in those formats. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in a vanilla-adjacent creature at this cost. Standard is the one exception where, if a graveyard-matters theme is actively supported in the format environment, Vinebred Brawler could see fringe play as a payoff threat.

Price Context

$0.16 bulk tier

At $0.16, Vinebred Brawler is pure bulk — grab a copy without thinking about it if the deck fits. Bulk rares in narrow archetypes rarely appreciate unless a new commander pushes the theme into the spotlight, so treat it as a role-player you acquire for pennies and forget about financially.
