In Commander, Vile Rebirth earns its slot only in Zombie tribal decks that want instant-speed token generation — outside that context, dedicated graveyard hate like Tormod's Crypt or Nihil Spellbomb does the job without asking you to also run a mediocre token producer. In Pauper it sees occasional fringe play in Zombie strategies but competes against more efficient common payoffs. Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer have enough redundancy that Vile Rebirth never makes the cut — the graveyard hate staples in those formats are simply better. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander: tribal synergy is the only justification.
