Vengeful Dreams exiles any number of target attacking creatures — a blowout combat trick that can wipe an entire alpha strike off the board. The catch is discarding that many cards from hand, which makes it a near-dead card in topdeck mode but a haymaker when you're holding five.

In Commander, Vengeful Dreams is a niche but real card — white's removal suite is deep, but exiling multiple attackers at instant speed for one white mana is a rate no other single card matches, and madness and discard-matters shells make the cost negligible. Legacy has better options: Swords to Plowshares and Force of Will exist, so Vengeful Dreams doesn't find a home outside of very dedicated discard builds. Vintage follows the same logic — the raw power ceiling of that format leaves situational combat tricks on the shelf. It's legal in Oathbreaker, where the 20-life starting total makes a single alpha strike more punishing, and the card earns a look there for the same reasons it works in Commander.
