The cost is steep, but the effect is immediate and requires zero setup beyond having it in play; the closest comparison for raw redirection absurdity is Crackdown Construct territory, except this one doesn't need activation windows.

Commander is the natural home for Vengeful Archon — seven mana is reachable in a format built around big spells, and the political value of "attack me and the damage goes back at you" is genuinely powerful at a four-player table.
