Veinfire Borderpost is a tapped mana rock that produces black or red, enters for one mana if you bounce a basic land, and counts as an artifact — the artifact typing is the entire reason to run it. Outside of decks that specifically care about artifact count, it's worse than a Rakdos Signet in almost every way.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

In Commander, Veinfire Borderpost earns a slot almost exclusively in artifact-matters decks — Breya, Etherium Shaper or Lonis, Cryptozoologist style shells that need cheap artifacts on the board more than they need efficient mana. In Pauper, it sees fringe play in Tortured Existence and Jeskai artifact brews where the low mana investment matters. Legacy and Vintage have zero interest in it — the formats move too fast for a tapped rock with no upside beyond its type. Veinfire Borderpost is a narrow role-player, not a generic fixer.
