Veiling Oddity

Creature — Illusion

Suspend 4—{1}{U} (Rather than cast this card from your hand, you may pay {1}{U} and exile it with four time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, you may cast it without paying its mana cost. It has haste.)
When the last time counter is removed from this card while it's exiled, creatures can't be blocked this turn.

Veiling Oddity card art
Veiling Oddity makes your entire team unblockable for a turn when you suspend it and it finally lands — that's a game-winning alpha strike stapled to a 2/2 flier for four mana. The suspend cost of one blue is the real price of admission, and it's a steal.

In Commander, Veiling Oddity earns its slot in any blue evasion-matters or go-wide aggro deck that needs a reliable one-shot unblockable effect — suspend it on turn two and your alpha strike arrives exactly when your board is developed enough to close. Pauper is where Veiling Oddity sees the most competitive relevance, fitting into tempo and flying aggro shells that can actually leverage both the body and the suspend trigger. Legacy and Vintage are legal but ignore it entirely; the effect simply isn't impactful enough for those formats' speed and power density. Modern and Pioneer have cleaner, cheaper unblockable effects that make it a non-starter there.

Price Context

Current price

$0.11 bulk tier

At $0.11, Veiling Oddity is pure bulk — you're never paying a meaningful price to include it. That price is stable by nature; there's no spike potential, but there's also no reason it gets cheaper.
