Vectis Dominator taps and deals 1 damage to a target creature for two mana — but only if you control an artifact or enchantment, which in the right shell is a trivially met condition. It's a repeatable pinger that doubles as a tap-down, and at common rarity it earns a slot in artifact-heavy decks that need cheap, recurrable disruption.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Vectis Dominator earns consideration in artifact-tribal builds — Breya, Etherium Shaper or Urza, Lord High Artificer decks can activate it every turn while keeping blockers tapped through combat. Pauper is where Vectis Dominator has the most structural weight: the format's lower toughness floor means 1 damage kills real threats, and artifact synergies are abundant enough to enable the ability consistently. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage it's too slow and too conditional to displace any established removal, but it's legal if a Pauper-style budget build needs it. The tap ability is the reason to run it — the damage is a bonus that occasionally closes a game.

Price Context
Current price
$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Vectis Dominator is deep bulk — it costs less than a sleeve. That price is stable by definition: there's no demand shock that moves a common pinger, so what you see is what you'll always pay.
