Unnerving Assault gives your entire attacking team +1/+0 and fear for the turn, which in a wide go-wide build can punch through blockers that would otherwise stonewall you cold. Three mana at instant speed is the ceiling on what this effect is worth, and most decks will find it too narrow to justify the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Unnerving Assault is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but competitive play in the non-rotating formats has no interest in a three-mana combat trick with no lasting board presence. Commander is the only realistic home, and even there it needs a deck that attacks wide with black creatures — think Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver tokens or a Zombie tribal list that needs a final push through clogged boards. Outside of that narrow lane, it sits unplayed.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Unnerving Assault is deep bulk — you're not buying this for value, you're buying it because you specifically need this effect and nothing else does the job for cheaper. It will not appreciate; treat it as a throwaway inclusion you swap out the moment a better option surfaces.
