In Legacy and Vintage, it competes in faster graveyard and combo shells where a one-mana looter with a body has genuine utility, though it rarely defines a strategy. Modern and Pioneer have enough efficient one-drops that Unlucky Witness earns its slot only in dedicated sacrifice or reanimator lists that specifically want the triggered loot. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander in application — it shines when the signature spell or commander can immediately exploit the graveyard fill.
