Unfinished Business card art
Unfinished Business returns a creature from your graveyard to the battlefield and reattaches any number of Auras and Equipment from your graveyard onto it — all for four mana at sorcery speed. Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER decks in particular treat it as a second copy of their best recursive line, and any deck stacking Auras or Equipment onto a single threat will find it pulls double duty that most reanimation spells simply can't match.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER

Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER

48.8% of decks · synergy 0.45

Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER is all about suiting up one creature with multiple pieces, so Unfinished Business effectively reconstructs the entire package after a board wipe — creature and equipment both — in a single card.

02
Ellivere of the Wild Court

Ellivere of the Wild Court

42.0% of decks · synergy 0.40

Ellivere of the Wild Court builds around stacking Auras onto creatures for Role tokens, and Unfinished Business recovers the full enchanted-creature package from the graveyard rather than forcing Ellivere to reattach Auras one by one.

03
Cloud, Midgar Mercenary

Cloud, Midgar Mercenary

20.3% of decks · synergy 0.19

Cloud, Midgar Mercenary cares about equipping creatures efficiently, and Unfinished Business lets that deck recover a key equipped threat without spending extra mana re-equipping after removal.

04
Gylwain, Casting Director

Gylwain, Casting Director

21.3% of decks · synergy 0.19

Gylwain, Casting Director generates Role Auras that pile onto creatures, making Unfinished Business a clean recovery spell that rebinds those Roles after a sweeper.

05
Amy Rose

Amy Rose

17.6% of decks · synergy 0.16

Amy Rose decks lean on equipping creatures with Hammers and similar weapons, and Unfinished Business gets both the creature and the attached Equipment back in one shot when the board gets wiped.

oathbreaker

Unfinished Business is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but Commander is where it actually sees play. In Legacy and Vintage the four-mana sorcery speed is a liability — those formats demand faster reanimation and have no use for the Equipment/Aura rebinding clause. Commander is the clear home: games go longer, graveyards fill naturally, and the clause that returns Auras and Equipment alongside the creature is a genuine card-advantage engine rather than a marginal upside. In Oathbreaker it's playable in the right signature-spell shell, though the slower format still makes the sorcery speed cost easier to pay.

Price Context

Current price

$1.16 cheap tier

At $1.16, Unfinished Business sits comfortably in the cheap tier — a near-free inclusion for any Commander deck that runs creatures with Auras or Equipment. Demand is driven almost entirely by Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER, so the price is unlikely to spike beyond that community's purchasing patterns, but it's not going to get cheaper either given its high inclusion rate there.
