Undercity Troll is a two-mana 2/2 with regenerate that can spend mana to grow — a fine limited card and nothing more. It has no meaningful competitive application in any constructed format.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Undercity Troll sees essentially no play in competitive constructed. Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy all have two-drop green creatures that do far more — Tarmogoyf, Strangleroot Geist, and their kin make a vanilla-adjacent regenerator irrelevant. In Commander, the 99-card singleton format is the only place Undercity Troll might theoretically appear, but a two-mana 2/2 that eats additional mana to grow threatens nobody at a four-player table. Oathbreaker is similarly uninterested.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Undercity Troll is deep bulk — the kind of card that fills a draft chaff box. That price is a ceiling, not a floor; there is no demand driver that would push it higher.
