Tyrannical Pitlord puts a 6/6 with trample on the board for four mana — the catch is your opponents choose which permanent you sacrifice, handing the table a removal spell stapled to your threat. Unless you're building around the downside or running it in a deck that wants sacrifice fodder gone, the cost outweighs the stats.

In Commander, Tyrannical Pitlord is a niche inclusion — four mana for a 6/6 with trample is above-rate, but giving three opponents a free sacrifice trigger is a steep political cost in a multiplayer game where someone almost always has something worth sacrificing. It finds a home in dedicated sacrifice and punisher builds, not as a generic beater. In Modern and Legacy, a four-mana 6/6 is simply too slow for the pace of those formats, and the downside is catastrophic when a single opponent can sacrifice a fetchland or a token to clean up your threat for free. Pioneer has faster threats without the liability, so Tyrannical Pitlord doesn't compete there either.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Tyrannical Pitlord is bulk — you're paying for a narrow role-player, not a staple. The price is unlikely to climb without dedicated Commander support, so pick it up for the niche builds that want it and don't expect it to hold more than its current floor.
