Turn Against steals any creature until end of turn and untaps it — at instant speed, that's a combat trick, a removal spell, and a finisher rolled into one five-mana play. The cost is real: five mana is steep for a temporary effect, and you get nothing if the board is empty.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Turn Against does its best work — five mana is easier to hit, targets are bigger and more threatening, and swinging a Blightsteel Colossus or Ulamog back at its owner closes games outright. In Legacy and Vintage the card is legal but essentially invisible; five mana for a one-shot steal can't compete with the speed of those formats. Modern and Pioneer are similarly hostile — efficient interaction and fast clocks mean Turn Against arrives too late to matter. Stick to Commander, where the big-creature density and slower pace let it live up to its ceiling.

$0.08 bulk tier
At $0.08, Turn Against is pure bulk — pick it up out of a dollar bin or any bulk lot without a second thought. Bulk red instants with narrow roles don't appreciate, so treat this as a throw-in, not a hold.
