Trophy Hunter card art
Trophy Hunter is a conditional removal piece that earns its slot specifically by picking off flying creatures and rewarding you with a +1/+1 counter each time it does. Three mana for a 2/3 with reach is a fair rate, but the payoff only matters if your meta is stacked with Dragons, Angels, and similar evasion threats.

Trophy Hunter is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but its real home is Commander. In a 100-card singleton format where Dragons, Angels, and other large flyers are everywhere, Trophy Hunter fills a niche role as a reactive threat that scales over the course of a long game. In Legacy and Modern it's simply outclassed — there's no +1/+1 counter synergy payoff strong enough to justify a 2/3 for three mana when those formats move at a pace where Trophy Hunter rarely swings the board. Commander is where the card makes sense, and even then only in dedicated counter-synergy decks that expect to see consistent flying threats across the table.

Price Context

Current price

$0.14 bulk tier

At $0.14, Trophy Hunter is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in, not something you'd trade for. Expect the price to stay flat; there's no obvious spike candidate here without a new counter-synergy commander pushing demand.
