Trench Stalker is a six-mana 4/4 that makes itself unblockable — and every other creature you control — as long as you pay one mana whenever it attacks. That locked-in evasion for a whole board is genuinely powerful, but the six-mana baseline and the recurring tax make it a late-game luxury rather than a reliable engine.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|

| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Trench Stalker's appeal is narrow but real — in a go-wide blue deck that plans to close games through combat, the ability to make your whole board unblockable at instant speed (during the attack trigger) is something few cards provide at any price. Outside Commander, the six-mana cost is a near-total disqualifier: Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy all move too fast for a 4/4 that needs a recurring mana investment to matter. Pauper is the one non-Commander format where it's technically playable, but the competition at that mana cost is stiff enough that Trench Stalker won't find a home there either. Treat it as a Commander-only card.

Price Context
Current price
$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Trench Stalker is deep bulk — the kind of card you find in a common box and pay nothing for. There's no meaningful demand pressure pushing the price up, and a card this narrow in competitive application is unlikely to see the kind of reprint attention that would move it in any direction.
