Trapfinder's Trick makes every creature an opponent controls lose landwalk abilities and deals 2 damage to each of those creatures — a situational board wipe that costs one blue mana. Outside of a dedicated landwalk-matters meta, the damage clause rarely fires for enough impact to justify the slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Trapfinder's Trick is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but sees vanishingly little play in any of them. In Commander, the effect is almost entirely parasitic — it only deals damage when opponents are already running landwalk creatures, which is not a baseline assumption. Pauper is the one format where it could theoretically see niche sideboard consideration against specific aggressive strategies built around landwalk, but even there it's too narrow to rely on. In Legacy and Vintage, the card simply doesn't compete with the efficiency of actual removal.

Price Context
Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Trapfinder's Trick is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not card power. The price reflects its narrow application accurately, and there's no realistic scenario where demand pushes it higher.
