Traitor's Roar card art
Traitor's Roar taps a creature an opponent controls and drains each opponent for 2 life — meaningful board disruption and life swing on a single card. The three-mana cost is fair for the effect, but it only earns a slot in decks that specifically reward tapping permanents or life drain triggers.

In Commander, Traitor's Roar is a niche role-player: the tap effect disrupts an opponent's best blocker or utility creature at instant speed, and the two-life drain scales respectably across three or four opponents for a six-to-eight-life total swing. Pauper is where Traitor's Roar has the clearest competitive case, slotting into tap-based control or drain strategies where every point of life matters at common rarity. In Legacy, Modern, and Vintage the card is technically legal but far too slow — three mana for a tap-and-drain effect is not remotely competitive in those formats. Oathbreaker can mirror the Commander experience, where planeswalker-centric tap synergies or life-drain signatures make it marginally more interesting.

Price Context

Current price

$0.22 bulk tier

At $0.22, Traitor's Roar is pure bulk — easy to pick up in a trade binder or toss into a cart without thinking about it. The price is unlikely to move in either direction given its narrow appeal and common print run.
