Tragic Trajectory

Tragic Trajectory is legal across Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Standard, and Vintage, but it's a Commander card at heart — the format where your creatures routinely dwarf what you'd see in a 1v1 setting, making the damage ceiling high enough to matter. In competitive 60-card formats, the effect is too conditional: a two-mana sorcery that requires you to already have a large creature in play is a liability in fast environments where your board may not exist yet. Commander is where the math works — late-game power totals regularly push into the double digits, and Tragic Trajectory becomes a clean answer to resolved threats that would otherwise demand exile or counter effects. It won't replace unconditional removal, but in creature-heavy builds it earns its slot.
