Torrent of Souls reanimates a creature from any graveyard and gives your whole team +2/+0 and haste until end of turn — all for five mana, provided you have a black and a red source. The color restriction is real, but in any Rakdos or Mardu shell that can reliably hit both pips, this is a two-for-one that closes games; Scholar of the Ages is a canonical target that immediately returns Torrent to hand, letting you loop the effect.

Torrent of Souls is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it sees essentially zero play outside Commander. In Legacy and Vintage the five-mana sorcery slot competes with formats that end games on turn one or two, so the effect simply arrives too late. Commander is where Torrent of Souls earns its keep — the reanimation plus anthem plus haste on a single card is genuinely impactful at a table where graveyards fill fast and one alpha strike can eliminate a player. Oathbreaker is viable in principle for the same reasons as Commander, though the smaller life totals compress the window where haste-granting matters.
