Tombfire exiles every basic land card from target player's graveyard for a single black mana — an effect so narrow it's nearly useless in most metas. Graveyard hate that ignores nonbasics, instants, creatures, and everything else is just too conditional to earn a slot over Tormod's Crypt or Soul-Guide Lantern.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |

In Commander, Tombfire is fringe at best — graveyard recursion rarely hinges on basic lands, so this hits a sliver of reanimator and Crucible of Worlds-style lines while ignoring everything else. Legacy and Vintage are the only constructed formats where it's legal, and neither wants it: fetch-heavy mana bases mean the graveyard is often full of basics, giving Tombfire a rare moment of relevance, but dedicated graveyard decks in those formats don't lean on basics as the axis anyway. Outside of highly specific metas where land-recursion loops are the primary threat, Tombfire belongs in the bulk bin.

Price Context
Current price
$0.35 bulk tier
At $0.35, Tombfire is deep bulk — the price reflects its near-zero demand across all formats. It's stable there because nothing is going to drive a spike on a card this narrow.
