Tobias, Doomed Conqueror puts a free 2/2 Warrior token into play every time a creature token you control dies, turning sacrifice outlets and board wipes into engines rather than setbacks. The catch is that you need a steady stream of tokens dying to keep the engine churning, which means he rewards dedicated sacrifice shells rather than casual good-stuff builds — pair him with Nim Deathmantle and a free sac outlet and the loop writes itself.
Format Analysis

Tobias, Doomed Conqueror is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but his home is unambiguously Commander. In 100-card singleton he slots in as part of the 99 in any Orzhov or Mardu token-sacrifice build, and the slower, value-oriented pace of EDH games gives his death-trigger loop time to generate real advantage. Legacy and Vintage are technically options, but those formats move too fast for a five-mana legendary who needs other tokens to already be dying before he contributes — he won't see competitive play there. Oathbreaker is the one other format worth mentioning: if your signature spell feeds tokens into the bin, Tobias can sustain a board presence through removal in a way most five-drops can't.
