Timbermaw Larva swings as a massive trampler the turn you drop it — every Forest you control adds a +1/+1 counter until end of turn, so in a deck with 15–20 Forests it routinely attacks as a 16/16 or bigger for four mana. The cost is that it's entirely board-dependent and does nothing without lands in play.
Format Analysis

Timbermaw Larva is a Commander card almost exclusively — in 100-card singleton with green ramp piling up Forests, the numbers get large enough to close games in one or two swings. In Pauper it's legal but too slow and conditional against the format's interaction density, where a 2/2 for four that needs setup dies before it swings. Legacy and Vintage have access to it but will never run it; the bar for four-mana creatures in those formats is essentially "wins on the spot," and Timbermaw Larva does not. Stick to Commander, and specifically to mono-green or heavy-green builds where the Forest count is consistently high.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
Timbermaw Larva sits at $0.05 — deep bulk, the kind of card you pull from a commons box rather than buy outright. At that price there's no financial consideration here; it holds no value, but it costs nothing to include.
