Ticket Tortoise taps a nonland permanent for as long as it stays on the battlefield — a repeatable, persistent lock stapled to a 0/5 body. The cost is that it dies to any removal pointed at it, freeing whatever it was holding.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Ticket Tortoise is a role-player in tap-based control or stax shells — it permanently neutralizes a commander, an Eldrazi, or any threat that doesn't die to removal, and the 0/5 body survives most combat incidentally. Outside Commander, Ticket Tortoise is too slow and too fragile to matter in Modern or Pioneer, where a two-mana 0/5 that does nothing the turn it enters won't make a competitive deck. Standard and Pauper are the more realistic homes if a synergy shell exists — Pauper especially, where repeatable tapping without upkeep cost is a real resource. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in it.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Ticket Tortoise is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. It won't hold or gain value, but at that price the question is never cost; it's whether the effect earns a deck slot.
