Thunderheads puts a 3/3 flying Weird token onto the battlefield for three mana — a reasonable body, but the cumulative upkeep means you're paying more each turn just to keep it. Unless your deck has a specific reason to want repeatable token generation or upkeep triggers, this is outclassed by cleaner options.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Thunderheads is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but sees virtually no play in any of them. In Commander, the cumulative upkeep makes Thunderheads a liability in long games — you'll either bleed mana or sacrifice the token you already paid for, and a single 3/3 flier rarely justifies the overhead. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in a three-mana token with a ticking cost attached. Modern has enough efficient token production that Thunderheads doesn't register as a consideration.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Thunderheads is deep bulk — you'll find it in a commons box, not on a trade binder. There's no meaningful demand driver on the horizon, so it holds its price only in the sense that it can't really go lower.
