Thunderblade Charge deals 3 damage to any target — and if you control a Rebel or Mercenary, it recoups itself immediately by returning to your hand. The cost is three mana at instant speed, which is a real ask for conditional card-neutral burn that only fires cleanly in one specific tribal shell.

In Commander, Thunderblade Charge is a niche role-player — it earns its slot only in dedicated Rebel or Mercenary tribal decks where the bounce condition triggers reliably and the card becomes an engine rather than a tempo-negative. In Legacy and Vintage, far more efficient burn exists, and the tribal condition is essentially never relevant in those formats; no serious player runs it there. Modern has the same problem: the floor is a three-mana Lightning Strike, which doesn't make the cut in any competitive list. Thunderblade Charge is, in practice, a Commander-only card.

Price Context
Current price
$0.27 bulk tier
At $0.27, Thunderblade Charge sits firmly in bulk territory — grab a copy without thinking twice if you're building a Rebel or Mercenary Commander deck. Demand is narrow enough that this price is stable; don't expect movement in either direction.
