Thran Golem card art
Thran Golem becomes a 5/7 first striker with flying and trample the moment you enchant it, turning a modest three-mana artifact into a closing threat on the back of a single Aura. The payoff is real, but it lives and dies on your ability to keep enchantments on it — without them, it's a 3/4 for three with no text.

Thran Golem is strictly a Commander card — the enchantment-matters payoff is powerful enough in a 100-card singleton environment where dedicated Aura commanders make it a genuine threat, but the dependency on enchantments is too fragile for Legacy or Vintage, where it would compete against far faster, more resilient threats without any support structure built around it. In Modern it's legal but practically irrelevant; the format's efficient threats and universal removal make a conditional 5/7 with no enters-the-battlefield effect a liability. Commander is where Thran Golem earns its slot, specifically inside enchantress and Aura-focused shells where activating all three bonuses at once is a turn-two or turn-three routine rather than an aspirational goal.

Pricing data for Thran Golem isn't currently available, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the live number before buying. Given its narrow application in enchantment-heavy Commander builds, it has historically settled in the bulk-to-low-value range — worth picking up cheaply if you're building the right deck, not worth paying a premium for.
