Thought Dissector is a mana sink that can rip an artifact straight out of an opponent's library and put it into play under your control — the payoff is enormous when it hits. The catch is you're paying variable mana with no guarantee of finding anything worth stealing, which makes it a high-variance gamble in most situations.

Commander is where Thought Dissector has any real home, specifically in artifact-heavy pods where opponents are reliably running Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, and expensive equipment worth poaching. In Legacy and Vintage the card is legal but essentially invisible — deterministic interaction and combo speed make a slow, luck-dependent artifact thief a non-starter. Oathbreaker is legal and follows the same logic as Commander: the more artifacts at the table, the better Thought Dissector looks.

Price Context
Current price
$0.29 bulk tier
At $0.29, Thought Dissector is deep bulk — you're not paying for scarcity, you're paying for cardboard. Don't expect the price to move; niche casual appeal keeps it from falling further, but there's no competitive demand to push it up.
