The Filigree Sylex

Commander is where The Filigree Sylex earns its slot most consistently — four-player tables are littered with low-cost enchantments, mana rocks, and combo pieces that a targeted removal spell can't clean up efficiently, and Sylex handles all of them in one activation. In artifact-matters decks it doubles as a synergy piece before it becomes a reset button. In Legacy and Vintage, the competition from faster, cheaper interaction is steep enough that Sylex rarely sees serious play outside of niche control shells. Modern and Pioneer are theoretically legal homes, but the activation cost and setup time make it too slow against the formats' dominant aggro and combo threats.
