Is Thaumatog good in Commander?

Thaumatog in Commander — Combos, Decks & Price

Thaumatog can swing for lethal out of nowhere by sacrificing your entire land base for a one-turn pump — the ceiling is real, but the cost is your mana for the rest of the game. It's a niche finisher that earns a slot only in dedicated Yenna, Redtooth Regent enchantment shells or land-recursion builds that can rebuild the board immediately after.

Commander is the only format where Thaumatog is genuinely interesting — land-sacrifice payoffs, enchantress engines, and recursion loops give it the support it needs to threaten a kill. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but too slow and too telegraphed to see meaningful play; there are simply better threats and better ways to leverage a land-sacrifice package at those power levels. Oathbreaker shares Commander's multiplayer texture but the smaller deck size and faster games make the all-in land sacrifice even harder to recover from, so Thaumatog stays fringe there too.
