Tezzeret's Simulacrum drains one life per turn for each planeswalker you control and can ping for three by tapping if you have an active Tezzeret — solid passive pressure that compounds quickly in superfriends builds. The cost is three mana for a 1/3 that does nothing without planeswalker support, so it earns its slot only in dedicated shells.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Tezzeret's Simulacrum is a Commander card through and through — the format's multiplayer life totals and long game give the drain trigger time to matter, and superfriends strategies are almost exclusively a Commander phenomenon. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's legal but irrelevant; three mana for a 1/3 with conditional upside doesn't come close to the efficiency those formats demand. Oathbreaker is the one fringe exception, where a Tezzeret planeswalker as your oathbreaker turns the Simulacrum into a reliable drain engine from turn one of the game.

Price Context
Current price
$0.14 bulk tier
At $0.14, Tezzeret's Simulacrum sits firmly in bulk territory — the kind of card you pick up as a throw-in or out of a common box. Demand is narrow enough that the price isn't going anywhere; buy it for pennies when you need it and don't think twice about the cost.
