Tezzeret's Betrayal is a Commander card through and through — the format's slower pace and planeswalker-heavy archetypes are exactly where a five-mana sorcery that does two things earns its slot. In competitive 60-card formats like Modern and Legacy, sorcery-speed removal at five mana simply doesn't make the cut when Fatal Push and Sheoldred's Edict exist at a fraction of the cost. Pioneer is the same story. Oathbreaker is arguably its best home of all, where protecting your planeswalker-commander with a removal spell that directly buffs them is exactly the kind of tempo-positive play the format rewards.
