Territorial Baloth lands as a 4/4 with trample at minimum and can swing considerably larger in landfall-heavy builds — but a six-mana vanilla-adjacent creature is a tough sell in Commander. The power ceiling is real; the floor is a disappointment.

In Commander, Territorial Baloth is a legitimate role-player in dedicated landfall decks — six mana is acceptable when the payoff is a 6/6 or 8/8 with trample by the time it attacks. Outside of landfall builds it competes poorly with cheaper, unconditional threats, so the slot is hard to justify in general green stompy lists. In Pauper, commons at this cost face a high bar, and Territorial Baloth's ceiling depends entirely on a synergy that Pauper landfall decks do support, making it a fringe-playable roleplayer there. Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy have moved far past six-mana creatures that don't immediately end the game, so Territorial Baloth doesn't register in those formats.

Price Context
Current price
$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Territorial Baloth is deep bulk — you're paying essentially nothing for a card that does exactly what it promises in the right shell. Bulk commons and uncommons at this price floor don't move much regardless of playability, so there's no financial consideration here beyond grabbing a copy out of a bulk bin.
