Telepathic Spies enters and lets you look at target player's hand — a one-time information grab stapled to a 2/1 body for three mana. The rate is bad; paying three for a 2/1 that cantrips a peek is below the floor for Constructed and marginal even in Commander.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Telepathic Spies occupies the lowest tier of hand-inspection effects — the information is real, but a one-shot look at a single opponent's hand rarely justifies a card slot when you have three other opponents to worry about. Pauper is the only format where Telepathic Spies might find a niche, since the commons pool is shallow enough that a 2/1 body plus any card effect has baseline utility in slower blue control builds. In Legacy and Vintage the card is technically legal and practically invisible — those formats have access to Gitaxian Probe and Thoughtseize, which both cost less and do more.

Price Context
Current price
$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Telepathic Spies is deep bulk — the kind of card that fills out a common binder. Don't expect that price to move; demand is too low to push it anywhere.
