Tek enters as a 0/0 and gains +1/+1 and a keyword for each basic land type among lands you control — in a five-color deck that's routinely a 5/5 with flying, first strike, trample, haste, and protection from artifacts and enchantments for five mana. The ceiling is real, but the floor is punishing: in a mono-color or two-color deck, Tek is an embarrassing 1/1 or 2/2.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Tek is a Commander card through and through — the format's four- and five-color decks are exactly the environment where it can reliably hit all five basic land types and enter as a 5/5 with the full keyword suite. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, Tek sees no meaningful play: five mana for a creature that requires domain setup is far too slow and matchup-dependent for those formats. Commander and Oathbreaker are its only viable homes, and even there it's squarely a five-color-deck-only proposition.

Price Context
Current price
$0.51 bulk tier
At $0.51, Tek is bulk — appropriately priced for a card with a narrow, high-color-count requirement that sees play in a small slice of Commander decks. The price is stable; there's no pressure driving it up or down, and it's unlikely to move unless a popular five-color precon or commander printing drives renewed interest.
