Tawnos's Wand makes target creature unblockable until end of turn — repeatedly, at instant speed, for two mana per activation — but demanding both blue and red pips each time means it belongs only in decks built to abuse that effect. The three-mana equip cost on a do-nothing artifact is a real ask, and in most Commander tables this slot buys you something that affects the board rather than sneaks one creature past.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Tawnos's Wand is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but competitive Legacy and Vintage have no interest in a three-mana artifact that grants conditional evasion one creature at a time. Pauper is the one format where repeatable unblockability on a common could theoretically matter, but the activation cost makes it a poor fit outside dedicated Izzet aggro shells. In Commander, Tawnos's Wand finds its most charitable home in Voltron or unblockable-matters builds — commanders like Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker or Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow — though even there, cheaper one-shot effects usually outperform a three-mana equip.

Price Context
Current price
$0.15 bulk tier
At $0.15, Tawnos's Wand is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar box, not tracking it on a market. Demand is narrow enough that the price has nowhere to go; run it if the effect fits, but don't acquire it as anything other than a throwaway inclusion.
