Tanglesap blanks an entire combat step for one green mana — every creature with forestwalk, trample, or just sheer size gets neutered until end of turn. It's a niche combat trick that earns its slot only in token swarm or fog-chain strategies; everywhere else, it's outclassed by unconditional fog effects.

In Commander, Tanglesap finds its best home in green token decks that want to survive one critical combat while building toward a lethal swing of their own — think Rhys the Redeemed or Lathril, Blade of the Elves boards that need a cheap out against an alpha strike. Outside of that role, one-mana fogs are a crowded space and Tanglesap's reach restriction means it does nothing against evasive flyers, which are everywhere in the format. In Pauper, the common legality matters since the card pool is tight, but even there Fog does the same job without the condition. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in it. Tanglesap is essentially a Commander-only card, and even there it's a fringe inclusion.

$0.06 bulk tier
At $0.06, Tanglesap is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a common box, not a singles order. There's no meaningful demand driver that would move it off the floor.
