Tangle Golem is a 7/5 that costs as little as one mana in a Forest-heavy deck — that's the whole pitch. Radagast, Wizard of Wilds and similar forest-matters commanders can drop it on turn two or three, making the sticker price of seven largely irrelevant.

Tangle Golem is a bulk rare in every format it's legal in, and that's most of them. In Commander, it fits narrowly into decks that flood the board with Forests — think Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar territory — where the affinity clause actually fires and a 7/5 for one or two mana is a legitimate threat. In Pauper it's not legal by rarity, and in Legacy or Vintage the power bar is high enough that a vanilla 7/5 with no immediate effect doesn't compete. The honest read: Tangle Golem is a Commander card, and only for a specific Forest-density build.
