Talion's Messenger enters as a 3/1 flying faerie rogue and draws you a card when it or another faerie you control deals combat damage to a player — repeatable, on-theme card advantage stapled to a relevant body. The cost is a three-mana 3/1 with no protection, so it lives and dies by whether your faerie tribal shell can keep attacking profitably. In Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor decks, this is a slam include; everywhere else, it's a role-player.
Best Commanders
Commanders with the highest synergy

Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor
Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor gives every faerie deathtouch and lifelink, which turns Talion's Messenger into a profitable attacker that almost always connects — and when it does, you draw a card on top of the value Tegwyll already generates from faeries dying.

Obyra, Dreaming Duelist
Obyra, Dreaming Duelist pings opponents whenever you cast a faerie, so Talion's Messenger both triggers that drain effect on cast and then threatens additional card draw when it swings in.

Alela, Cunning Conqueror
Alela, Cunning Conqueror spawns faerie tokens on opponents' turns, and Talion's Messenger adds a card-draw reward layer to any of those tokens that connect — more faeries in the air means more chances to trigger.

Alela, Artful Provocateur
Alela, Artful Provocateur's go-wide artifact-and-enchantment strategy produces faerie fliers that can all trigger Talion's Messenger, making it a reasonable draw engine in builds that go wide rather than deep on tribal synergy.

Talion's Messenger is legal in every major constructed format, but it's almost exclusively a Commander card in practice. In faerie tribal Commander builds it fills a specific niche: a three-mana body that draws cards without requiring any mana activation, which compounds quickly across a 100-card, multiplayer game. Outside Commander, the three-mana 3/1 rate is too slow for Modern or Pioneer faerie strategies, which want threats that close games rather than grind incremental advantage against a single opponent. Standard is theoretically viable, but faeries as an archetype would need critical mass to make the trigger fire consistently.

Current pricing data for Talion's Messenger isn't available in this snapshot, so check Scryfall or TCGplayer for live figures before buying. Given its ~50% inclusion rate in Tegwyll and Obyra lists, demand exists, but faerie tribal is a niche enough archetype that copies rarely spike hard — expect it to be an affordable pickup.
