Taken by Nightmares

In Commander, Taken by Nightmares occupies the honest-removal tier — five mana is payable in a format where games run long, and exile over destruction matters constantly against recursion-heavy pods. It doesn't embarrass itself, but black has enough unconditional exile at four mana or less that Taken by Nightmares is rarely the first inclusion. In 60-card formats like Modern and Pioneer, five-mana sorcery-speed removal is too slow to matter competitively. Standard is the one context where Taken by Nightmares can be a legitimate role-player if cheaper exile options are scarce in the format at any given time.
