Take Down kills one flier or hits every creature in a token flock for a single green mana — the flexibility is real, but a one-damage floor means it blanks against anything that isn't a Bird, Insect, or similarly fragile creature. It earns a slot in dedicated go-wide or flying-tribal decks and nowhere else.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Take Down is a niche piece of interaction — it shines when an opponent's Thopter Spy Network or Anointed Procession token swarm is clogging the board, but it's dead in hand against most threats at the four- and five-player table. Pauper is its best competitive home, where cheap green removal is scarce and token-based strategies are common enough to make the modal text genuinely useful. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer, Take Down is too conditional to see play — efficient spot removal in those formats trades up on mana rather than relying on creature type to spread damage. Vintage and Oathbreaker follow the same logic: the card is legal but irrelevant. If your format has flying tokens, Take Down is serviceable; everywhere else, it's a bulk common collecting dust.

Price Context
Current price
$0.04 bulk tier
At $0.04, Take Down is deep bulk — you'll pay more in shipping than in card cost if you're singles-ordering it. The price is stable at the floor and will stay there; this is a card you pick out of a bulk box, not one you track.
