Swift Reckoning destroys any tapped creature at instant speed for two mana — clean, unconditional removal with no targeting restriction beyond the tapped requirement. It's a competitive option in any white deck that regularly taps down threats or plays into combat, and bulk filler everywhere else.

In Commander, Swift Reckoning earns its slot because tapped creatures are everywhere — attackers, creatures that activated abilities, tokens that swung in. The two-mana instant speed is exactly where white removal wants to be, and the condition rarely feels restrictive in a four-player game. In Modern and Pioneer, the tapped requirement is more punishing against combo pieces and mana dorks that never attack, so Swift Reckoning mostly loses out to unconditional options like Prismatic Ending or Declaration in Stone. Legacy and Vintage have the same problem at higher velocity — the condition is a liability when games end before combat loops matter.
