Swampbenders lets you tap Swamps to give target creature +3/+3 and swampwalk until end of turn — burst that doubles as evasion delivery on demand. The three-mana activation cost and sorcery-speed restriction make it too slow and narrow for most tables.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Swampbenders is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but relevant in almost none of them. In Commander it occupies a narrow lane — swampwalk only matters against black-heavy pods, and paying three mana at sorcery speed to pump one creature is a losing proposition in a four-player game. Legacy and Vintage have no reason to touch it. Oathbreaker is the one format where a focused black-matters shell could justify it, but even there Swampbenders is a fringe inclusion at best.

Price Context
Current price
$0.82 bulk tier
At $0.82, Swampbenders sits at the high end of bulk — more than its gameplay warrants. Demand is low enough that the price is unlikely to climb without a reprint or a swampwalk-matter commander shaking up the market.
