In Commander, Survive the Night earns its slot in decks that want both protection and card draw on the same card — the Clue token is the whole reason to run it over a cheaper indestructible spell. In Pauper, where commons fight for every slot, it's a reasonable include in white creature strategies that can crack the Clue without tempo loss. Modern and Pioneer have cleaner options at lower mana costs, so Survive the Night rarely competes there. Legacy and Vintage don't touch it.
