In Commander, Sun-Spider, Nimble Webber does its best work in pillowfort or spider-tribal builds that want to buy turns without spending removal spells — freezing multiple creatures at once is a clean way to survive until your engine assembles. In 1v1 formats like Modern and Pioneer, the effect is narrower: you're spending four mana to tap down one opponent's board for one turn cycle, which rarely justifies the rate against faster threats. Legacy and Vintage have so many ways to ignore the web counters or win before they matter that it's a non-starter there. Standard is the one 60-card format where its floor is highest — slower board states mean the enter-the-battlefield lock actually buys meaningful time.
