Sun Sentinel is a two-mana 2/2 with lifelink — the lifelink is the whole reason it exists, and on a body this small in Commander, it rarely changes a game. Run it only if your deck specifically rewards incremental life gain; otherwise it's outclassed by almost every two-drop slot candidate.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Sun Sentinel is playable in Pauper, where commons with lifelink have real applications in white-based lifegain and tempo builds, and the 2/2 body is at least on-curve. In Commander, Sun Sentinel competes against a deep pool of two-drops that either generate card advantage or scale with the game, and a 2/2 lifelinker rarely survives long enough to matter. Legacy, Vintage, and Modern have no interest in it — the rate is simply too low against the threats those formats demand answers to. Pioneer is the one constructed format where a budget lifegain shell could find a fleeting home for it, though there are better options at the same mana cost.

Price Context
Current price
$0.14 bulk tier
At $0.14, Sun Sentinel is deep bulk — you're not buying it for value, you're buying it because you need a cheap lifelink body and cost is no object. The price is stable at the floor and isn't going anywhere.
