Sulfur Elemental hits every white creature on the board with -1/-1 the moment it enters — no mana, no activation, just a static punishment that runs until it dies. The catch is the split second, which makes it uncounterable but also means you can't respond to your own cast, so slotting it alongside Darien, King of Kjeldor or any white token engine you control is a fast path to blowing up your own board.

In Commander, Sulfur Elemental is a niche hate piece aimed squarely at white-heavy token strategies — it punishes Elesh Norn devotees and Soldier or Cleric tribal builds the turn it enters, and the split second means countermagic can't save them. In Legacy and Vintage it sees essentially no play; dedicated white-weenie hate has better options in those formats, and a 3/2 for three with no immediate permanent effect beyond an ETB debuff rarely competes. Modern is the same story — Sulfur Elemental is technically legal but too slow and too narrow to see serious play in a format with more efficient answers.

$0.05 bulk tier
At $0.05, Sulfur Elemental is pure bulk — you're paying postage, not a card price. It holds that floor indefinitely; narrow hate pieces with no competitive demand don't spike, so grab a copy for the hate-draft slot in your Commander cube without any concern about the price moving.
