Struggle for Skemfar deals damage equal to the number of Elves and/or Warriors you control to any target — a burn spell that scales with your board state. At one mana, it punches well above its cost in tribal decks that can reliably hit five-plus creatures, but it's a blank in the wrong shell.

In Commander, Struggle for Skemfar is a niche role-player: tribal decks running double-digit Elves or Warriors can point it at a planeswalker or finish a player at low life for a single mana, but it does nothing on an empty board and competes with stronger finishers. In Pauper, it has a theoretical home in Elves but the format's combo-Elves builds typically win before needing a burn spell. Modern and Pioneer Elf lists rarely want a sorcery-speed burn spell over proactive threats, so it sees essentially no competitive play there. Legacy Elves is similarly uninterested. Everywhere outside dedicated tribal shells, Struggle for Skemfar is unplayable.

Price Context
Current price
$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Struggle for Skemfar sits firmly in bulk territory — the kind of card you pull from a draft reject pile rather than buy. Its narrow tribal application keeps demand low enough that the price is unlikely to move without a breakout tribal commander pushing Elf or Warrior counts into spike territory.
