Streambed Aquitects card art
Streambed Aquitects turns any Merfolk into an islandwalker for a turn and can make a land a Island until end of turn — useful evasion in tribal, but it costs a tap and only lasts one attack. It's a role-player, not a staple: run it in dedicated Merfolk builds and cut it everywhere else.

Streambed Aquitects is a Pauper Merfolk staple where islandwalk has historically been the tribe's primary kill condition alongside Merrow Reejerey and Aquitects' own ability to convert lands — it earns its slot there because the format lacks flying blockers that laugh off the effect. In Legacy, dedicated Merfolk has access to far more efficient threats and lord effects, so Streambed Aquitects rarely makes the cut outside fringe tribal builds. Commander is its second-best home: in a Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca or similar Simic Merfolk shell, the tap-based evasion pairs cleanly with commanders that reward tapping creatures, and the land-grant effect occasionally matters in multi-player games where opponents run few Islands. Outside Merfolk tribal in any format, Streambed Aquitects does nothing.

Price Context

Current price

$0.26 bulk tier

At $0.26, Streambed Aquitects is deep bulk — the kind of card you pull from a common box rather than order individually. It holds that price floor because Pauper demand keeps it from hitting true zero, but don't expect movement in either direction.
