Storyweave puts a +1/+1 counter on a creature and gives it a keyword suite — trample, lifelink, and indestructible — until end of turn, all for two mana at instant speed. It's a combat trick that wins fights and blanks removal simultaneously, and the counter sticks.

Commander is where Storyweave earns its slot, particularly in decks that want to protect a key creature through a board wipe or block a lethal attacker without losing their engine piece. The instant speed matters enormously — you're holding up two mana and letting opponents walk into bad combat math. In competitive non-rotating formats like Legacy and Modern it doesn't have the raw power to displace established tricks, but it's a reasonable budget include in creature-centric brews that lack access to better protection. Pioneer is similarly marginal unless you're specifically building around indestructible synergies.

Price Context
Current price
$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Storyweave is pure bulk — buy a playset without thinking about it. Bulk combat tricks rarely climb unless a specific combo or format shift pushes them, so treat this as a cheap functional include, not a spec.
